Its an electronic transmission. So I would venture to guess you did some kind of damage when you shorted out the cable. Not much help I know. When driving at night try and shift with the shifter and not let it shift automatically.See if the trans shifts then.Dont go to GM dealers.Find a reputable trnasmission shop and explain to them what happened. They are usually much better at diagnosing problems than the dealers are. Most mechanics in dealerships are only parts changers with no clue how to diagnose problems.Sorry wish I could have been more help.
okay i a am in austraila i might have some ideas for you
you might have damaged the battery or charging system around that time in oz GM (holden) runs a computer to tell the transmission when to change if the votage drops to far it will swtich it self of to protect it self from spicks
i own a repair shop, and i have seen this happen before to one,i think what has happened to it,i think it has reversed the polarity on the transmission switch for it,i have seen it happen a few times, before, the only way to repair is have the transmission switch replaced in it ,,it don’t cost that much to do,,i have done it before by accident and for some reason it reverses the polarity and the switch wont function right until the lights are off on it,a dealer cant find things like this,,there’s a shift solenoid in the transmission, and that is what need to be replaced on it,and before its over with ,you May have to put another battery in it also, when they scan it its not going to sow it being bad on it,it actually wont give any trouble codes at all on it but this is what i think it is,i hope this help,s,,good luck with it.
